My Life in Versailles: The Movie

My Life in Versailles: The Movie

Australian Premiere

"Sensitive and delicate, the animated film addresses the pain of loss from a child's perspective” – Le Monde

When 8-year-old Violet goes to live with her uncle, Regis, a gruff maintenance worker at the Palace of Versailles, they get off to a rocky start. Despite this, Violet and Regis learn to live and face life’s challenges together. Through complex friendships, first loves and a Christmas trip to visit Violet’s grandparents, they slowly create a new life rich in discoveries and tender moments in the heart of Versailles.

Based on a highly acclaimed and awarded 2019 short film, and made by the same filmmakers, My Life in Versailles: The Movie is a gentle feature film set in the aftermath of the 2015 terrorist attacks in Paris. Nuanced and level-headed, this is a sweet and charming film about making new connections, healing old wounds and learning to live again.

Parental guidance: Contains references to terrorism.
