Rufus: The Sea Serpent Who Couldn't Swim

Rufus: The Sea Serpent Who Couldn't Swim

Australian Premiere

A story filled with humour and adventure made to inspire people young and old to face their fears and stick together when it matters most.

In the heart of the ocean, a community of sea serpents live on a secret island, shielded by the magical smoke of Uncle Ludovic, who is part sea monster, part dragon. Among them is young Rufus, who prefers to spend time on his own and doesn't really fit in, especially because he can't swim. When disaster strikes and Uncle Ludovic loses his powers to protect the island, it’s time for Rufus to step up and save his family. But will he be able to overcome his deepest fear?

This undersea animation is based on the children’s book series by Tor Åge Bringsværd and illustrator Thore Hansen, which ran from 1972 to 2019 across nine books.
