Victorian Premiere
The time has come for young and handsome King Benjamin to find a wife. When presented with the portrait of the beautiful princess Carolina, he is so enchanted that he sends his own portrait back to her, but the spoiled and proud princess turns him down.
Sensing that something is not right, Benjamin disguises himself as a gardener and gets a job at Carolina’s castle. There he finds out that the princess was once happy and kind, but since losing her parents she has been manipulated and exploited by her devious counsellors. With a little magic and the power of music, Benjamin and Carolina soon realise that they must leave the castle in order to be truly free.
The Proud Princess is a new retelling of a classic 1952 Czech film that has been updated and for a new generation.
